Slow services in Kent

-

I agree with Christian Wolmar’s comments about Broadstairs and the lack of signage concerning the high-speed services to London ( RAIL 829).

It may be because Southeastern is slightly ashamed of the poor services in the area. While the dash from St Pancras International to Ashford averages 84mph, beyond there to Broadstairs the train trundles through the bucolic scenery of East Kent at a lowly 47mph.

Going to London via Whitstable is even slower. The Javelin provides a local stopping service averaging just 40mph to Ebbsfleet, where things finally liven up. Surely they were not designed for this?

Thanet deserves better - especially an upgrade of the infrastructure from Ashford through both Canterbury and Sandling to the coast, so that high speed will apply to nearly all of the journey, not just part of it. Geoff Hutton, Hornchurch
