London Bridge upgrade closer to completion

-

The latest phase of the London Bridge station upgrade was completed by Network Rail on September 2, following an eightday programme of engineering work.

Track and signalling equipment was installed on the Cannon Street lines, while the Charing Cross lines through London Bridge were realigned through Platforms 6 to 9 and connected to the Bermondsey dive-under.

At London Bridge, fit-out work continues with lighting, ticket gatelines and flooring installed on the final section of the new concourse, which is due to open in January 2018.

During the programme, London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross were closed with trains diverted to other stations in the capital. The final stage of the London Bridge upgrade will take place over the Christmas and New Year period, when the final section of the new concourse and Platforms 1-5 will be completed and opened to the public.
