NR continues tram-train works
Network Rail is continuing preparations for the start of Sheffield’s tram-train trial, with completion between August 19-22 of the second phase of signalling works and installation of the new overhead line electrification system.
While many of the works were carried out overnight, the overhead line works at Rotherham Central meant that trains were replaced by buses. Further works will also involve some Sunday closures at the station.
Construction of new platforms at Parkgate and Rotherham Central continues. However, due to the discovery of unmapped cables, a road closure in place to raise College Road Bridge in Rotherham has been extended for an additional two weeks. It is due to reopen on September 1.
