2019 end date for East Coast HSTs

Virgin Trains East Coast has confirmed its 15 High Speed Trains will be withdrawn from the route by the end of 2019.

There had been a suggestion that VTEC had applied for a derogation regarding the PRM-TSI deadline of January 1 2020, to enable the operator to introduce its fleet of Intercity Express Programme Class 800/801 trains into traffic into 2020. This was denied by VT spokesman Richard Stanton.
