Uncomfortable ‘387’

I recently had my first experience of a new Great Western Railway Class 387, and I have never sat on a more uncomfortable seat on a train - a dead straight back and an extremely hard seat.

I wonder if railway companies actually take passenger comfort into consideration when designing their trains, or try to make internal fitting as cheap as possible. Lloyd Smith, Suffolk
