Eurostar boosted by US passengers

Eurostar says increased business travel and rising passenger numbers from the United States has helped it record an 11% increase in revenue, to £880 million in 2017. Passenger numbers also increased, by 3% to 10.3 million. The company made an unaudited operating profit of £57.6m.

It says the number of passengers from the US increased by 26% compared with 2016, and that the Royal Wedding in May and Ryder Cup golf tournament in Paris in September are expected to boost traffic further. The number of business travellers increased by 8%
