Temporary timetable for £210 million Derby remodelling
Network Rail, East Midlands Trains and CrossCountry have published the first temporary timetables for services calling at Derby between July 22-October 7.
The amendments are required to support a £210 million, 79-day engineering project to resignal and remodel tracks in and around the station.
The work will include installing more than a mile of new track and 56 miles of new signalling cable, transferring signalling control from Derby Power Signal Box to a new workstation at East Midlands Control Centre, and construction of a new platform on the Pride Park side of the station where there are currently goods loops.
With less than 100 days to go before the main upgrade work commences, the first revised timetable is now available online and covers EMT services between Derby and Crewe.
Temporary timetables for services between Sheffield, Derby and London were expected to be made available imminently as this issue of RAIL went to press, alongside confirmation that rail replacement bus services will run between both Derby and Burton-on-Trent, and Derby and Nottingham.
“Work at the station and behind the scenes is progressing well, as we gear up for 79 days of work starting on July 22,” said EMT Managing Director Jake Kelly.
“We are really pleased the first of the temporary timetables are now available online, and they will be in stations shortly. I would ask all customers to check their timetables as soon as they can and understand how these temporary changes will affect them.”
CrossCountry MD Andy Cooper added: “As we reach this 100-day milestone we wanted to ensure that our customers have as much information as possible, to give them the confidence that they will be able to complete their journeys during the Derby resignalling work.
“We will continue to work with NR and EMT to secure all the benefits this project can deliver for better, faster journeys for our customers.”
