Best Western – Supervisory Board members give their verdicts

-

Dick Fearn – Independent Chairman “First year tick, job done, but there’s loads more to do in the second year. Will I be able to say in 12 months’ time that the output is brilliant and the service is much better?” Mark Hopwood – Managing Director, Great Western Railway “GWR was pleased to be asked to work with NR on establishing the Board. It has helped us to get agreement on how to address key issues for the ultimate benefit of our customers.” Fraser Brown* – Director, Heathrow Express “The board has allowed Heathrow Express, as a small open access operator, to work much more closely with the larger TOCs, FOCs and NR. The Western is a busy and changing network but through collaboration and direct participation of Transport Focus we’re able to put customers first in our decisions.” Mark Langman – Western Route Managing Director, Network Rail “The Supervisory Board has allowed us to tackle issues collectively so that everything comes together properly, with the passengers’ interests put first. It’s great to have Transport Focus there when we are having difficult discussions about the upgrades we are doing.” Steve Murphy – Managing Director, MTR Crossrail “The Board fulfils a crucial role for MTR Crossrail in reviewing overall industry plans over the next 18 months and ensuring the route’s capability is fully prepared to deliver this exciting transformation for all its customers.” Nina Howe – Passenger Manager for Great Western Railway, Transport Focus “Everyone has been consistently focused on trying to use this to the best advantage, and there’s a good dynamic which certainly seems to work.” *Brown will step down from the board in October after GWR begins operating all Heathrow Express services
