Merseyrail platform upgrades continue

The latest phases of Merseyrail’s station platform upgrades to accommodate its new Stadler trains started on February 2, with work focusing on Southport to Hall Road on February 2-10 and then Formby to Bank Hall on February 11-24.

In March, Phase 7 begins with platform alterations between Hooton and Rock Ferry between March 2 and 22 and from Hooton to Chester on March 25-April 2.

During the closures, Network Rail will replace a bridge in Bootle that crosses the Leeds-Liverpool Canal on February 18-22, followed by track maintenance on the Southport line on February 17. During the March works, Network Rail will strengthen the footbridge at Bromborough station during its closure.
