More ‘769s’ on their way to Wales

Four more Class 769s have been ordered by Transport for Wales, taking the total number of FLEX units that Porterbrook will supply to Wales to nine.

Work is under way on converting the first unit (769002), which is being modified from 319002.

The latest arrival at Brush Traction Loughborough, where the conversions are carried out, is 319426. It is the first of TfW’s additional order of four.

The trains are due in traffic this year, and will help TfW boost capacity as well as enabling the internal cascade of diesel multiple units that will result in the withdrawal of Class 142 Pacers.
