Peaks booked for Severn Valley diesel weekend
The first visitors for the Severn Valley Railway diesel weekend on May 16-18 have been confirmed.
Two ‘Peaks’ will attend, including D05 Preservation Ltd 46010 (which is nearing the end of a major overhaul at Ruddington) and D4 Great Gable (which is based at the Midland Railway Butterley).
Also attending will be D7535 (25185), which is based at the South Devon Railway. This will be the furthest it has travelled in preservation, and the first time it has left Devon since moving to the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway in 1987. The ‘25’ was sold to the South Devon Diesel Trust last year, and moved to the SDR.
Four locomotives currently at the SVR but classed as visitors will also be in action, with 33108 37688, 40106 Atlantic Conveyor and 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier all in use. The ‘33’ and ‘37’ are at the SVR for commercial contracts.
Resident locomotives so far confirmed for the event are D821 Greyhound, D1062 Western Courier, D9551, 50031 Hood, 50035 Ark Royal and 50044 Exeter.
