West Coast plans return for ‘47/8’

A preserved Class 47/8 is destined for a main line return with West Coast Railways.

D05 Preservation Ltd 47828 has moved to Nemesis Rail’s Burton workshops for an E exam and return to main line standards, before moving to WCR’s Carnforth base.

The locomotive was last used on the main line by Direct Rail Services in late 2015, before being sold. It had been used at the Severn Valley Railway, but was latterly at the Great Central Railway (Nottingham) before being taken to Burton.
