A date for 140mph trains?

-

The East Coast Main Line trains and Virgin Pendolinos were designed to and are capable of running at 140mph. The new Azumas and Western Class 800s and ‘802s’ are capable of the same.

Network Rail and its predecessor Railtrack have ruled that trains cannot safely run at this speed until the European Train Control System in-cab signaling is introduced.

As it looks that at long last this is on the way, will we see trains running at this speed? Clive Murley, East Grinstead
