Regarding the Devon sea wall ( RAIL 868): there is all this talk about what line/s could be reopened inland, to divert trains in the event of bad weather along the coast.
But there is nothing about something that could cost a fraction of the cost of rebuilding old lines, which is building a breakwater off shore to dissipate the force of the waves before it reaches the shore.
It seems that everyone wants the most expensive and complicated way of doing things, rather than looking at a simpler, cheaper option. Chris Small, West Sussex
