More Disabled Persons Railcards

The Office of Rail and Road says the number of Disabled Persons Railcards in circulatio­n rose by 3.1% in 2019-20 compared with the previous year, but that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a decline in March 2020.

The number of booked passenger assists fell by 5.2% over the year to 1.2 million, with assists falling by 44.8% in March due to COVID-19.

Network Rail stations accounted for 29.6% of all passenger assists (361,707) and train operators the remaining 860,109.

Unbooked ‘turn up and go’ assists were not included.
