Scheme to beat Victoria flooding

A £1 million scheme is under way to prevent flooding around Manchester Victoria station.

Funded by the Department for Transport, the drainage system is being connected to the River Irk that runs under the station. The drainpipes on the station facade will be replaced and the system under the road at the front of Victoria will be completely replaced.

The work should be complete in October.
