Track replaced in Essex resignalling

Around 1,200 metres of track has been replaced between Alresford and Great Bentley (Essex), in addition to preparatory works for part of the Clacton-on-Sea signalling upgrade.

Some 740 sleepers were replaced, and 3,720 tonnes of ballast installed. Thirteen new structures supporting 6,000 metres of new overhead catenary, a new power supply and foundations were installed as part of the upgrade.

Further works are due to take place between February 20 and March 14 next year.
