Rail Wellbeing Live a huge success

-

The first ever Rail Wellbeing Live event exceeded expectations by attracting 13,000 viewers between November 4-5.

Organisers had been targeting 10,000 registrations for the twoday virtual event, which featured more than 140 speakers and 80 interactive sessions - ranging from ways to manage the menopause in the workplace through to coping with money worries and the power of swearing.

Of the 41 hours of speeches, Q&As, panel sessions and workshops broadcast during Rail Wellbeing Live, the best-attended session was led by comedian Ruby Wax - 2,503 people tuned in to hear how to ‘unfrazzle’ your brain.

Close behind in second place was a talk by BBC Breakfast’s Dr Rangan Chatterjee about ‘five steps to feeling better’.

Such was the success of the event that plans are already being made for 2021, which organisers have confirmed will be a virtual event regardless of the situation or restrictions related to COVID-19.

Chairman of the Rail Wellbeing Alliance and Network Rail

Southern Region Managing Director John Halsall said: “I’m delighted the first ever RWL has been such a huge success. With almost 13,000 people joining us over the two days we have undoubtedly helped improve the wellbeing of a significant proportion of people across our industry.

“But this is about much more than the event, it’s about us as an industry saying our personal physical and mental wellbeing is important, we value it, and we must protect it.

“Putting wellbeing at the top of the agenda is good for all of us - not least the passenger and freight users we serve, because a happier, healthier workforce is a more efficient, successful workforce.”
