York-Leeds line upgrade begins

Three weekends of closures between Poppleton and Knaresborough started on November 22, to enable upgrades of the signalling system and linespeed improvements at Cattal station from 20mph to 40mph.

Work will also take place at some level crossings, while a new switch will be installed at Harrogate station.

No trains are due to run between Knaresborough and York on November 28/29, and between Horsforth and York on December 5/6.
