First-built Mk 5As enter traffic

The first-built rake of CAF Mk 5As has entered traffic with TransPennine Express, more than 30 months after it was unveiled to the media at the Velim test track in the Czech Republic.

Set TP01, formed of Trailer First (TF) 11501, Trailer Standard (TSO) 12701-703 and Driver Trailer Standard (DTS) 12801, finally carried passengers in the UK at the beginning of November.

This leaves three rakes (TP02/03/05) left to enter revenue-earning traffic, as well as spare DTS 12814.
