Hull Trains

-

Hull Trains began running trains on the East Coast Main Line again from December 3, having suspended its services for a second time in response to the second English lockdown.

A limited timetable was introduced to initially help passengers during the Christmas period and the student travel window.

Passenger numbers will be reviewed to inform decisions on the reintroduction of more services, to meet demand and when it’s financially viable.

Two trains will run in each direction from Hull-London

King’s Cross on weekdays (the 0824 from Hull starts at Beverley, while the 1848 from the capital runs through to Beverley), while three will run on Saturdays and two on Sundays. There is an additional service on a Friday in the northbound direction.

Hull Trains had stopped running trains from November 5, to protect its future. Both HT and fellow ECML open access operator Grand Central receive no Government support other than via the furlough scheme.

“This news is a positive step for Hull Trains, and I want to thank customers for their ongoing support while we steadily reintroduce services,” said HT Managing Director Louise Cheeseman.

“Our safety measures remain in place which includes socially distanced seats, a dedicated cleaner on every journey, and our new live train tracker tool which lets people see how busy the train is in real time before boarding.

“We’re also safely reintroducing complimentary fresh coffee, Yorkshire Tea and snacks into First Class.”
