Stations upgraded
Cheadle Hulme and New Mills Newtown stations have been upgraded with new seating and refurbished waiting rooms and ticket offices. The work was funded by Network Rail (Cheadle Hulme £254,000 and New Mills Newtown £128,000).
NR donates TV fee
Network Rail has donated a filming fee for television series
Gentleman Jack to the Railway Children charity. Part of the second series of the show has been filmed at York station, and the production also rented space in one of NR’s car parks.
Story hires Forbes
Story Contracting has appointed Bobby Forbes as commercial director of its Story Scotland division. He joins from Babcock Rail, where he has been commercial director since 2004.
GA hails water success
Greater Anglia says its water fountains have saved almost 370,000 single-use plastic bottles being used in the two years since their introduction at 12 stations.
