Uni celebrates 10 years of online education

OFTEN associated the Covid-19 pandemic, remote learning has been on the University of Reading’s radar since the inception of its online courses programme a decade ago.

Celebratin­g its 10th birthday this week, the initiative has redefined the possibilit­ies for open learning and global engagement, and has enrolled more than 1.5 million people from at least 160 countries.

More than 3,800 students have gone on to study at the University after completing one of its short online courses. There are 40 courses on offer which showcase Reading’s leading teaching and research.

Appeal for witnesses to theft

POLICE were called after a car parked in Whitley was broken into last week.

The theft happened around 10.40am on Monday, October 23, one of a number of incidents the police are currently investigat­ing.

The vehicle was parked in allow us to expand our engagement from thousands to millions of students.

“We are extremely proud of the achievemen­ts of our online courses programme over the past 10 years, made possible through the talent and innovation of our colleagues and the curiosity and applicatio­n of our online learners.

As well as supporting students and adult learners, courses have helped university experience­s through offerings such as Stress-Free University Interviews and Study Smart.
