KESTRELS PREPARE FOR HUGE CUP TIES

WOODLEY UNITED is gearing up for not one, but two huge cup ties this weekend.

On Saturday, the men’s senior side are in action in the FA Vase second-round for the first time in the club’s history.

Woodley earned an exceptiona­l away win at Virginia Water in the first round as they overcame their opponents on penalties.

They have an away tie at Egham Town, who play in the Combined Counties Premier North.

Edgham have made a promising start to their league campaign and currently sit in seventh on 21 points with five wins, six draws and four losses from their opening 15 matches.

Jordan Blake’s side are in 14th spot in the Combined Counties Division One on 20 points with six wins, two draws and four losses.

They will be looking to climb the table once the cup action is out of the way with several games in hand on all of the sides above them in the current standings.

Marc Surtees’ women’s side take to the pitch for their mouthwater­ing FA Women’s Cup tie with Oxford United on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

The Kestrels were also successful via a penalty shootout in the third qualifying round which saw them triumph over Aylesford.

Woodley have made a superb start to life in the Southern

Region Women’s Premier Division with four wins, a draw and a loss putting them in third after six matches.

The team now faces a tough test up against the FA Women’s National League South side.

Oxford, who were previously managed by current Reading Women’s manager Liam Gilbert, are in sixth position in their league campaign with four wins, a draw and three defeats from their opening eight games.
