John Bishop’s Hexagon date

- EADING’S Hexagon theatre will be filled with the sound of laughter when popular comedian John Bishop comes to town.

Tickets have just gone on sale for the show … but the performance isn’t until next year.

After two years of focusing on acting, presenting, dog walking and decorating his spare bedroom, the comic is raring to go, and his new show is called Back At It.

John said: “I’m delighted to be adding Reading to my Back At It tour.

“The work-in-progress shows started about 10 days ago - the juices are flowing again and the response from the audiences has been incredible. I’m looking forward to seeing many more of you out there on the road.”

John has enjoyed a terrific career since he burst on the comedy scene in the year 2000.

Within three years of that gig, he was on arena tours. He also released one of the UK’s fastestselling stand-up DVDs.

He’s gone on to have a string of hit TV shows including John Bishop’s Australia, The John Bishop Show, and John and Joe Bishop: Life After Deaf.

The comic was also a star turn in Jodie Whittaker’s final series of Doctor Who, where he played companion Dan.

And if that wasn’t enough, he co-hosts a podcast, Three Little Words, with Tony Pitts.

The pair talk to people about their lives, hopes, struggles and beliefs. Past guests have included Robbie Williams, John Cleese, Sebastian Faulks and Professor Brian Cox.

Last year, John starred in the four-month tour of Mother Goose with Sir Ian McKellen, which included a hugely successful run in London’s West End.

For those who can’t wait until next year, John will perform at Basingstoke’s Anvil Arts on October 23 and 24. He will be in Reading on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7 next year, with the first date including a British Sign Language interpreter.

Tickets for the Reading dates cost £27.50, £35, or £45. The show is suitable for over 14s only and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
