THIS MONTH we’ve been reading Normal by Graeme Cameron (an everyday tale of a suburban serial killer); Misery Bay by Steve Hamilton (bleakly brilliant investigations in mid-winter Michigan); Crooked Little Vein by Warren Ellis (an outrageous American roadtrip); The End of Vandalism, by Tom Drury (small-town USA where nothing happens continuously and brilliantly); Enigma of China by (Excellent Chinese serial detection and politics), and the utterly excellent BSA Unit Singles books by Rupert Ratio. Required reading for those who love a killer thriller. GROOVY TUNES have been limited to the new album from slide-maestro Sonny Landreth, ‘Bound By The Blues.’ Terrific version of Cherry Ball Blues on here, oh yes.
MEANWHILE AT THE MOVIES we’ve almost overdosed on weird thrillers including Lost River (brilliant), Predestination (clever), Kentucky Fried Zombies (terrible), Echoes From The Dead (Scandinavian) and all four of the previous Terminator flicks so we stand half a chance of understanding Genisys…
