SERVICE STARS

Last August I test rode and ordered a new water-cooled Triumph Bonneville T120. I want fair service and honest dealing and so far I have got this from my nearest Triumph agent, Ongar Motorcycles. The first service was half the price of my previous BMW. To fit some accessories they charged for half the time Triumph quote. The bike itself needed a recall to replace some wiring to the fuel pump, and I had a friendly chat with the technician who helpfully explained things while he worked.

The Triumph itself is amazing. The finish is quality, plenty of paint; smooth, smooth welds. The quality control must be top notch. I think John Bloor must be proud of his team. The engine mapping is excellent and it has a V-twin type rumble. I made a conscious decision to downsize slightly and the T120 fits the bill brilliantly without giving away too much performance and handling. John Jordan, member

I would like to nominate Halcyon Classic Parts for an RC Service Star. I bought a bar end mirror direct from Halcyon that will fit standard 7/8” and 1” bars. Unfortunately the mirror would not fit my bars as the internal diameter of my AJS bars is smalle er, more like 5/8”. Of course being inept I didd not think to measure before purchasing.

I emailed Halcyon and asked if they could help. ‘No problem’ they promptly replied, ‘we will make a fitting that suits your bars’.

These have now arrived (having been whisked up on a lathe) at no charge and my problem is solved. The photo shows the bespoke expanding spacer/bolt thing gy suitable for 5/8” bars. Dave Simmons, member
