THIS MONTH we’ve been reading a trio of early Bosch crime-thrillers (because when you’re laying in a poorly heap on the sofa then you might as well go back to the classics) and
THE FIFTH WITNESS, also by Michael Connelly but from his Lincoln Lawyer series – and jolly entertaining it was, too; WINTER WORLD by AG Riddle (alien invasion! The end of the world! Superb stuff ); HUNTRESS, by Glynn Stewart (fifth book in a jolly scifi series about a bunch of mercenaries, and good fun with it); CITY OF BONES by Martha Wells (remarkably dull desert scifi from the author of the utterly excellent Murderbot series), and SHARDS OF EARTH, by Adrian Tchaikovsky (superb galaxyspanning scifi stuff; great plot, characters and entertainment!
MEANWHILE AT THE MOVIES… we couldn’t go the actual cinema cos we was all contagious, so instead we watched THE BATMAN at home; one of the better DC superhero movies and definitely enhanced by the current Catwoman; reached season three of THE BLACKLIST in which James Spader plays a criminal mastermind and nothing else makes any sense, and are about to plunge into OBI-WAN simply because we can and we need cheering up!
