RESILIENCE
Alina Addison
CV: Alina is a qualified chartered accountant and worked as an investment banker with Rothschild. Now, she is an accredited executive coach with over 20 years of experience and runs her own practice, Adaptaa.
DESCRIBE YOUR APPROACH. I encourage, challenge and support clients to adapt to change by developing emotional intelligence and resilience. I trained as a coach for personal reasons: my son has autism, and I wanted to support him to develop emotional resilience. Now, I want to do the same for clients.
WHAT’S YOUR USP? My challenging style, positive energy and huge commitment to my own and my clients’ success. I draw on my own learnings: as a woman in the male-dominated City and as a mother of a child with special needs. I believe success does not bring happiness, whereas happiness will always bring success.
ARE WE MORE LIKELY TO BE SUCCESSFUL IF WE TAKE AN EMOTIONAL APPROACH? Research shows your level of EQ is six times more important than IQ if you want to succeed. According to science journalist Daniel Goleman, EQ is made up of four pillars: selfawareness, self-control, empathy and relationship management.
ALINA’S ADVICE: Stay committed to your own success, even when it seems impossible. Surround yourself with positive people who energise you. Build your professional network by asking for help and giving back twice as much, and embrace feedback.
