SELF-CARE & SELF-LOVE
We’re celebrating the 20th year of Red and, in honour of our special birthday, Yasmin Le Bon shared the biggest life lessons she has learnt from the last 20 years in our March issue. Many of you loved her comments about the menopause – ‘it’s a bit shit actually’ – and her advice to focus on your close relationships and put yourself first ‘because no one else will’.
Lucy Braga wrote, ‘I was inspired by your article with Yasmin Le
Bon – particularly the part where she said, “Do not neglect your soul – it needs to be inspired and nourished by kindness, sympathy and a oneness with nature.” Loved the rest of the article, too, and the whole mag made me feel better after a stressful day trying to juggle too many things. It reminded me to take that bit of me-time to refocus. Thank you Red magazine. Great team! And thank you to the beautiful and inspirational Yasmin Le Bon for seeing
“Le Bon” (the good!) in life.’
@Suzannewtweets tweeted in agreement, ‘Once I got over (my jealousy at) the fact this woman looks INCREDIBLE at 53 (or any age for that matter), I can confirm that every piece of advice @yasminlebon gives in @Redmagdaily this month is spot on.’
@jayne_connery tweeted, ‘@Redmagdaily fantastic article by Yasmin Le Bon. Accurate insight into the menopause.’
Here at Red, we are big champions of self-care and, in February, we hosted our self-care event featuring inspiring talks and workshops from Nadia Narain (and her sister, Katia Narain Phillips), Hollie Grant, Sara Milne Rowe and more. Julie Jones was one of our lovely readers who attended the afternoon. She wrote us this letter:
‘I nearly didn’t come because my dad sadly passed away on 3rd February, but I’m so glad I did.
I am grateful for his life and for hearing Nadia and Katia speaking so openly and sharing their stories – thank you – I now have a better grasp on what being good to yourself means. I am focusing on the fact that being me is enough, and my priority is to spend more time doing things that inspire me.
‘The pain and sadness of losing my dad can’t be addressed in a day, but the realisation that looking after yourself is the first step in the healing process has meant a lot. A heartfelt thank you to everyone.’

@Mrssvmerrick Reading @Redmagdaily and the article on love by Mike Gayle. If my husband still feels this way about me after 21 years I will be a lucky woman #marriage #love #cryingallthetears.
@Caitlinla89 Loving the
Zadie Smith interview in this month’s @Redmagdaily – ‘I am not a good person. I don’t behave in a way that is acceptable for the masses.’
@Libprice Totally agree with @Selfishmother in this month’s @Redmagdaily about changed definitions of ‘me time’ – last week’s me time was 1hr under general anaesthetic to have a piles operation! Was looking forward to the uninterrupted sleep...
