FASHION DIRECTOR OONAGH BRENNAN SHARES HER STYLE FAVOURITES

-

GET TO GRIPS

It all started at the Maxmara A/W18 fashion show. The girls walked the runway with big, sparkling ‘M’s in their hair, and suddenly it was all about grown-up hair slides. To pull this trend off, keep the rest of your look low key: a glitter barrette with a T-shirt and jeans or a slouchy hooded top will give you just enough edge to keep you from looking too ‘girlie’.

In the hood

The humble hoodie is taking on wardrobe icon status for the next few seasons. I love Isabel Marant’s grey marl style – it has just enough of a sporty vibe to give a maxi-dress off-duty edge. And check out Ninety Percent for their classic colours, too. Cool plus comfort… what’s not to love?

DO THE POLKA

I know the floral maxi is having a moment right now, but I must confess, I’ve had my head turned by another print. The polka dot dress is my new go-to; a classic that feels contemporary again.

I’ll be wearing mine with cowboy boots now, ankle-tie espadrilles later, and always with a slick of red lipstick!

ALL WHITE

I have a jeans obsession. I must own 50 pairs, but this summer I’m looking beyond blue to white. They must be loose fit, high-waisted and flared or tapered to the ankle (no skinny or stretch styles, please). Just think, ‘What would Jackie O do?’ I’ll be adding a classic Breton and backless mules for extra Riviera-chic style points.
