REBOOTED
Formulation ‘upgrades’ can be disappointing when you’ve come to rely on a product, but that’s not the case with these made-over icons. Arguably the first of the superpowered antioxidant serums when it launched 15 years ago, Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-aging Daily Serum, £180, sees its star turn, idebenone, joined by vitamin C, collagen-boosting tripeptides and a slew of firming, moisturising and detoxifying ingredients in its 2.0 version. Expect even glowier skin with clarity of tone, plus all-round protection from pollution and blue light. The inclusion of hyaluronic acid establishes Origins Plantscription Anti-aging Power Serum’s upgraded hydration credentials, while newly added peptides speak to its benefits for texture and tone. It gets a new name, too: Plantscription Multi-powered Youth Serum, £67. Then there’s Olay Regenerist Ultra Rich, £34.99, a new addition that has all the same good stuff as the original moisturiser, such as niacinamide and peptides, while also being laced with shea butter. It’s perfect for dry skin, which it leaves looking dewy.
TIME TO HEAL
Herbal baths and balms featured heavily in my childhood, which is probably why I’m a fan of therapeutic body products, especially when they contain menthol, with its almost medicinal smell and skin-tingling feel. Aroma Active Laboratories’ Muscle range with, yes, menthol, as well as essential oils and anti-inflammatories such as turmeric and cannabinoids, is a panacea for aches, tiredness, colds, and more. Amazing for achy joints and designed by a couple of rugby internationals who know a lot about achy joints, Fourfivecbd Thermal Joint Gel is a warming mix of arnica, glucosamine, CBD and, of course, menthol. And, breathe.
COLOUR POP
Byredo’s Prismic Palette, £77, is not the usual gradation of shades we’ve come to expect in a collection of eyeshadows, but then it has been curated by the brand’s collaborator, boundary-pushing make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench. These are colours you really can wear, or should at least try. Approach with a playful spirit.
More than non-sticky gloss with a high-colour pay-off, this has lip-plumping hyaluronic acid and a peptide to reduce vertical lines, too. A win win. CHARLOTTE TILBURY HYALURONIC HAPPIKISS (10 SHADES), £25
