OBJECTS OF DESIRE
Make-up as ornament is a concept I love: beautifully unnecessary and sparking nothing but joy. Unapologetically decorative in the palm of the hand, Gucci’s glossy new bullet was inspired by vintage brooches, while Carolina Herrera’s Mini Tints swing from a hoop stacked with charms. As I am also wedded to comfort, these sheer but buildable lip colours are just my thing – balm-like to wear, with a happy pop of colour. Gucci’s is laced with nourishing flower oils and plant butters and plumping hyaluronic acid, too. Just gorgeous.
GUCCI BEAUTY ROUGE DE BEAUTÉ BRILLIANT, £35. CAROLINA HERRERA MINI TINTS, from £5 a case and £5 a cap, £17 for the lipstick refill,£8 for a charm and £12 for a bangle
ROAD TEST
According to Living Proof, most curl products miss the point, masking the concerns of this hair type and failing to address the real issue, which is its lack of tensile strength. That’s what leads to the issues curly- and coily-haired women know only too well – breakage, frizz and lack of definition. Cue the brand’s curl care range, which includes Curl Elongator, £37, a conditioning styler that detangles and defines coils without shrinkage, and hydration-boosting Curl Shampoo and Conditioner, both £31, formulated to encourage curl groupings during washing. All three were adored by our Red testers.
GLOW UP
On the waiting list for a facial? While it won’t replace the hands-on attention of a pro, Medik8 Sleep Glycolic, £35, will transform your skin overnight. Built to release its high-strength acid slowly while glycerin and Korean clover bolster hydration, it works to reveal clearer, smoother, brighter skin by morning. Good for all, except the super-sensitive.
