JOIN THE CLUB

-

Whoever you are and whatever you’re into, there’s a community of like-minded people out there. Here’s our pick of the virtual book clubs to join in 2022…

For genre-based reads:

Virtual Crime Bookclub

Always guessing whodunit? This is the community for you. Set up by crime author Rebecca Bradley, the Virtual Crime Book Club has members from across the world and meets monthly on Zoom to discuss a book chosen through a vote by participants. To sign up, visit rebeccabradleycrime.com/ virtual-crime-book-club/

For belonging and identity:

OKHA

OKHA, a word which means story or tale in the Edo language of Nigeria, is the queer and Black book club housed on PRIM, a digital platform that aims to bring queer and Black people together to share experiences and highlight literature, poetry, and plays by African, Caribbean and Afro-latinx people. The group hosts an online event based around a different book each month. To find out more follow PRIM on Instagram: @prim.black

For books that do good:

Shelterbox Book Club

Billed as ‘no ordinary book club’, the £10 monthly subscription fees from this group are used to support people affected by conflict and natural disasters around the world. Members vote to choose between three books each month, all picked because they are character-led and encourage readers to see the world differently. The month’s winning title is sent out by post, and the group discuss it online, through video calls and with special events such as author interviews.
