I’M EXPECTING MY FIRST BABY THIS SPRING, WHICH HAS MEANT MAKING SOME SKINCARE CHANGES.
Most professionals advise against using retinoids when pregnant, so I’ve pressed pause on my prescription-strength vitamin A. Instead, I’ve turned to alternative complexion-freshening ingredients, including vitamin C, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. They’re not direct stand-ins for retinoids, but can help keep skin bright and calm-looking. I’ve found them all – along with ferulic acid for environmental protection – in Lancôme’s brilliant new powerhouse serum.
EVEN SO, MY SKIN HAS STILL BEEN UNPREDICTABLE AT TIMES, VEERING FROM RED AND BLOTCHY TO DULL AND DRY.
A cocktail of SOS balms, intensive moisturisers and hydrating masks helps to tackle whatever issue my overwrought complexion needs.
MY BODY-CARE ROUTINE IS ALSO MORE TIME-CONSUMING.
Twice-daily applications of Mutha’s nourishing body oil and Modor + Bearn’s hydrating moisturiser allow me to have a mindful moment to connect with my bump, as well as relieving itchiness. Both are safe for pregnancy and don’t feel heavy or greasy.
NEOM’S FIRST FORAY INTO SUSTAINABLE HAIRCARE DOESN’T DISAPPOINT.
I’m impressed with the antioxidant-packed, Sls-free shampoo and conditioner, which have left my notoriously difficult-to-please hair gloriously scented, shiny and soft. I love the 100% post-consumer recycled plastics and 100% recyclable packaging, too.
IN THE COMING MONTHS, I’M ANTICIPATING SPENDING A LOT MORE TIME AT HOME!
I’m hoping that by lighting some scented candles I’ll be able to create a grown-up space that reminds me to recentre and reset. And if that doesn’t work, then at least my flat will (temporarily) smell heavenly.
GLOWING, GLEAMING MAKEUP IS PERFECT FOR SPRING.
Fitting the bill are Dior’s balmy lipsticks and RMS Beauty’s cream eyeshadow. With their easy-to-apply formulas, they create a pulled-together look with just the right amount of sheen.
I’M LOOKING TO REFRESH MY WARDROBE WITH SOME HARDWORKING BUYS.
I can already think of several ways that a stripey rollneck and a delicate white blouse will reboot existing dresses, skirts and jeans.
