THE CANDLE I LOVE TO LIGHT IS… Left on Read by Forvr Mood. It has a sweet aroma that isn’t too overpowering.
MY SIGNATURE LIPSTICK IS…
My Black Magic Lipstick in Divine, with a layer of Floss Gloss in Peachy on top. I call it the Black girl lip.
MY FOODIE WEAKNESS IS… Chunky fries, ideally from American chain Fatburger. It’s the only fast food I eat.
WHEN I SEND FLOWERS, I CALL… Any Black-owned or minority-owned florist. It’s important to me to put money back into marginalised communities.
MY ONE-STOP MORNING COFFEE SHOP IS… I’m a weirdo who doesn’t drink coffee. People say it wakes them up, but I’m an Energizer Bunny without it.
ON TOAST, I LOVE TO SPREAD… Butter and apricot jam. I used to layer it all on when I was a kid, but now I just look at food and put on 10 kilos!
MY FAVOURITE PAIR OF SHOES ARE… Crystal Louboutins. When I was younger, I felt that, as a person of colour, I had something to prove and I’d buy expensive clothes to feel accepted. I’ve come to peace with that and now my goal is to own less.
MY SIGNATURE SCENT IS… Noir de Noir by Tom Ford.
THE SHADE I PAINT MY NAILS IS… Right now, it’s red because my mum’s in town. She was my earliest style inspiration and she always had a signature red nail.
THE BOOK I KEEP ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE IS… I recently read Richard Branson’s autobiography Losing My Virginity, which I loved. He’s my kind of entrepreneur… totally crazy!
THE BOXSET I LOVE TO REWATCH IS… The Lord Of The Rings series – I’m a bit of a nerd and I’ve seen it more than 100 times.
MY BEST-EVER HOLIDAY WAS…
An all-inclusive trip to Song Saa Private Island in Cambodia with my ex-husband. We had little money at the time and had never been anywhere so luxurious. We ate so much that we were actually sick!
MY FAVOURITE HOTEL FOR A WEEKEND AWAY IS… The St. Regis in the Maldives. You’re surrounded by very few people and you can see and hear nothing but the ocean.
THE ALBUM I’LL NEVER GROW TIRED OF IS… Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee. It features his classic songs remade as country duets with the likes of Blake Shelton and Willie Nelson.
THE THING I CAN’T STOP BUYING FOR MY HOME IS… Candles.
WHEN I WANT TO CRY WITH LAUGHTER, I CALL… My sisters. We call one another every weekend.
THE SONG THAT GETS ME ON THE DANCEFLOOR IS… Put on any Afrobeats song and you’ll see me race to the floor!
MY DINNER-PARTY DISH IS… Jollof rice – a classic Nigerian dish. I love infusing my dinner parties with my culture.
THE MANTRA I LIVE BY IS… Keep walking. People tell me I’m strong, but it comes from a simple philosophy: I wake up and continue, however hard life gets.
