Mickey Mouse’s 65th birthday occurred during 1993, and Disney was keen to celebrate the occasion in every way possible – including the release of a videogame. However, Traveller’s Tales would only have had six months to develop the game, so this idea was shelved in favour of a game celebrating the mascot’s entire cartoon history. The result was Mickey Mania, a game in which Mickey Mouse must rescue a variety of characters from old cartoons including himself and his faithful dog Pluto. The game also arrived on the SNES, Mega-cd and Playstation, and started Traveller’s Tales’ strong reputation for developing licensed platform games.
