The new Street Triple family

-

The RS sits at the top of the new five-strong Street Triple range. One step down the ladder is the Street Triple R (£8900, due in May), which has a 116bhp version of the 765cc triple, but with more power and torque all the way up to 10,000rpm. It loses the Öhlins shock, has different Brembo front brakes, comes on Pirelli Rosso Corsa tyres and does without the ‘Track’ riding mode. The third model is a low-ride-height version of the R (expected August), with model-specific short-travel suspension and seat foam that lowers the saddle to just 780mm. Fourth is the Street Triple S (due April), the new ‘standard’ model. Power drops to 111bhp, torque is down to 54lb.ft and price tumbles to just £8000. Brakes, suspension and clocks are swapped for cheaper parts, riding modes are cut to two, and steering geometry is more relaxed. The fifth and final model is a special A2-licence version of the Street Triple S, powered by a new 660cc engine that can be restricted to the required 47bhp. That one’s due in June and will cost £7700.
