5. Trousers £69.99

These trousers are a bit baggy and shapeless. There’s no thermal layer and it feels like they’ll get sweaty in the heat. I haven’t had a damp crotch yet, but the outer holds water and I don’t reckon they’d keep me dry on a long wet ride. They have boot straps and fiddly zips to open the cuffs to go over the boots. Impressively, they have Level 2 CE armour in the hips as well as knees, so for this money I’d live with a slightly baggy cut.
