BUYING CHECKLIST?

-

Is it right for you? The fit of any helmet is critical. Try it on and give it a few minutes. Sit on a bike in a crouched position and check it doesn’t rub or put pressure anywhere and that the vision is good. Make sure the helmet fits securely without twisting or moving on your head.

Can the fit be adjusted? Increasing numbers of helmets – especially at the top end of the market – come with additional foam to tailor the fit. Trained dealer staff can help adjust the padding too, so if a helmet is almost-but-not-quite-right, ask if it can be adjusted to suit you.

What’s in the box? Do you get a Pinlock? If so, is it a standard one or a larger Max Vision one? Is there a breath mask? Is there a tinted visor? There will be a manual, so make sure you read it as it will tell you how to maintain the helmet, from changing visors to removing the liner for cleaning.
