5 OF THE BEST FLIPFRONTS

-

Lazer Monaco Evo Pure Carbon Expect to pay £430 sportsbikeshop.com

Superbly light for a flipfront, well-vented and mist-free with a plush, adjustable liner. The Transitions visor goes black in bright sunlight but lightens as daylight fades and is clear at night. It has a Max Vision Pinlock.

Shoei Neotech Expect to pay £500 (plain) £550 (pattern) shoeiassured.co.uk

High quality helmet with a plush interior, easy-use, efficient vents and a glove-friendly flip mechanism. It’s quiet too. Should be worn with the flip down when riding. Internal sun visor is easy to operate and there’s a Pinlock included.

X-lite X-1003 Expect to pay £350 motogear.co.uk

Flip mechanism locks securely and is easy to use. It can be worn with the flip up or down when riding and the visor comes with a Pinlock. Vents are good and it can take the N-com Bluetooth system (though note that the more expensive carbon fibre model can’t).

AGV Compact Expect to pay £200 motodirect.co.uk

A decent flip-front at a great price, the Compact shows it’s a polycarbonate helmet only with its hefty weight. It has a decent field of view, an internal sun visor and you can lock the chinbar up to ride with the face open. Weak spot is the venting as it can get misty.

BMW System 6 Evo Expect to pay £450 bmw-motorrad.co.uk

Lovely lining, solid build, easy-to-use flip mechanism and an internal sun visor. It sits low on the brow and the vents could be more effective but it’s an impressive helmet. Optional integrated Bluetooth is slick and easy to operate.
