The Legend jeans are the biggest-sellers in the PMJ range. Shaped like everyday slimfit jeans, they’re made in a retro café-racer style, complete with upturned hem, and feature adjustable and removable Knox armour at the knees. The main protective material used is abrasion-resistant TWARON (the same material used in bulletproof vests) and the Legend also has a Coolmax inner lining. Pockets are provided for optional hip protectors to be fitted and the jeans even come with a free belt. Available in blue or grey.

EVERYDAY COMFORT

Most of us spend a lot of our lives in jeans so protective ones make perfect sense. They offer all the comfort of everyday jeans but are made from special anti-abrasion materials and have super tough stitching as well as padding and sometimes even armour.

LINING

The materials used need to be breathable or you’re going to get hot and sweaty very quickly. Look for mesh linings or linings that help wick away sweat.

STAY CONNECTED

Some protective jeans can be connected to compatible jackets so that your whole body is covered in the event of a crash.

ARMOUR

While some protective jeans rely on just the anti-abrasion properties of Kevlar or similar materials, others will allow you to insert armour at the knees and hips. Consider the kind of riding you typically do before choosing which jeans suit you best.

USE WISELY

Jeans can never hope to offer the same levels of protection as leather race suits so don’t expect to be allowed to wear them on track days. They’re best suited for round town or gentle cruising or classics riding, not full-on sports riding.
