BUYING CHECKLIST?
Is it right for the bike? You can wear any boot on any bike but motocross boots on a sportsbike doesn’t make much sense. When trying something a bit different make sure it works on your bike, without buckles catching or scratching heel plates.
Can you get trousers on? Adventure-style boots are bulky at the top, urban boots are low at the ankle. Check your riding trousers work with the boot without leaving a length of leg exposed or getting caught on the boot, so it can’t be pulled down.
Is there enough feel? A bulkier boot may offer good protection but can limit feel. Assess whether you’re happy with that trade-off.
Can you walk in them? With any heavily armoured boot, there’s a danger that limited movement in a reinforced ankle will leave you walking like a penguin. Check you can walk normally.
