CHOOSE YOUR COLOURS

Most adventure suits are grey or black, and that’s for a very good reason – they’re going to get dirty. While lighter coloured suits are available, they’re going to look pretty grubby very quickly if you don’t wash them down on a regular basis. It’s worth bearing this in mind when choosing colours.

ADJUSTABILITY

Because textiles tend to have a much looser fit than leathers, you need to make sure the armour stays where it should. Most textile jackets have adjustable straps on the arms so you can tighten them to keep the armour in place.

FEATURES

Adventure jackets are usually packed with features like removable sleeves, zipped vents, adjustable armour, big pockets and removable thermal linings, but these can all add to the cost. Before deciding on a jacket, decide what kind of riding you’re going to do in it and whether you actually need all these features.

ALL-YEAR RIDING GEAR

A good adventure suit may be the only suit you’ll ever need. Because they’re so adaptable to different weather conditions, you can wear them all year round. While some might be expensive, if you only need one suit for riding in then you could still save money in the long run.

SUPREME COMFORT

Leathers are not the most comfortable things to wear on a bike. They’re quite restrictive, not waterproof, and don’t offer much in the way of warmth – so textiles have the upper hand in many ways. If you’re planning any kind of adventure riding, textiles are the only way to go, for comfort and practicality.
