OUR ROUTE
Start/finish: Beverley Time: 5 hours Distance: 146 miles
This clockwise loop through East and North Yorkshire takes in a mix of everything – from tight unclassified back roads to wider rolling A-roads, from scenic coastal runs to a belting inland blast over the top of the North Yorkshire Moors. It’s an intentional mix of sports and touring, and as such deliberately takes in some slower sections, including a trip round Scarborough’s seafront, a detour to the remote Robin Hood’s Bay and a stop at Whitby’s famous Whalebone Arch.
Notionally, this starts and finishes on the outskirts of Beverley, though we’ve only picked that as it’s convenient if you’re coming over the Humber Bridge from the south. Feel free to join the route wherever’s closest for you. Coffee and lunch stops are plentiful all the way round: the Stonehouse Bakery in Danby is right on the route, as is Fimber Café; Seaways Café is in nearby Fridaythorpe; and Robin Hood’s Bay has plenty of excellent options. You won’t struggle for fish and chips anywhere along the coast.
