KTM targeting young riders

-

AT THE SAME time as updating their 390 Duke (p52), KTM have introduced a new version of their best-selling 125cc model. Like the 390, the 125 Duke gets a new two-piece frame, much-improved suspension, an all-led headlight and a fantastically eye-catching TFT dash about the same size and shape as an iphone. And speaking of which, like the 390 you can connect your smartphone to the Duke via Bluetooth (to answer calls or control music using the bike’s switchgear) with the optional KTM My Ride system (just £24.29).

The fuel-injected, four-valve 125cc single-cylinder motor is unchanged, so continues to make the maximum 15bhp allowed on learner or A1 licences. Like the 390 it also has a new side-mounted silencer and a larger tank, but like the 390 these new parts (and others) add 10kg over its predecessor, with a fully fuelled weight now around 150kg. Price is £4099, which won’t make importers of Chinese 125s lose any sleep, but crucially undercuts other high-end rivals like Yamaha’s MT-125 and Aprilia’s new Tuono 125. MFG
