London bikers get heard

-

LONDON’S MOTORCYCLISTS TOOK to the streets of the capital to raise awareness of the importance of bikes for transport in cities. The ‘We ride London’ campaign was set up in 2016 and this was its biggest event so far.

The campaign is calling for free and secure bike parking, for bikes to be allowed into all bus lanes (nationally, as well as in London) and for the London Mayor to exclude bikes more than 13 years old from London’s proposed £12.50 daily Ultra Low Emission Charge. Charley Boorman joined the other riders on the day.

Campaign co-ordinator Mike Butler told RIDE, “As the ride was on a weekday we’d expected to get 30-40 riders but, in the end, we had over 100. We delivered a letter to the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and have already had a positive response from TFL. We’ve also met with the all-party parliamentary motorcycling group.” For more information see ‘weridelondon’ on Facebook.
