His injuries were so bad even walking would be a challenge, let alone riding a bike. This book is more of an overview of Charley’s incredible life and thankfully not all about his recovery from the injury. It’s a good, easy, light-hearted read where Charley opens up about how his life has always been closely linked with bikes. Many celebrities ride, but Boorman is a real biker who’s carve a unique living out of riding around the world.
Overland to Vietnam

At 432 pages, you have to be really intrigued about Gordon May’s ride to Vietnam. Riding from the UK to the Far East has been done before and will be done again, but May did it on a 1941 Matchless. It’s nicely written with superb detail and warts-and-all descriptions of the places, people and cultures that he sees.

Sidecars, two-strokes, three-wheelers, the rise of foreign bikes and even the pursuit of adequate clothing for riding were all big news. It’s not for everyone, but is nicely written and packed with info about a very interesting era of biking. MH
