Stewart Brown

40, Property management consultant Stewart is an ex-professional footballer. He did a CBT and used a Piaggio MP3 for commuting a few years ago. “I always wanted to ride but it was frowned upon when I was a sportsman and nobody rides in the family. My best friend convinced me to do a CBT about seven years ago and I struggled. So I thought I’d leave it for a few years. It’s the freedom that’s so enjoyable – plus commuting takes so long in a car in London, so a bike licence will make it easier.”

Lauren Battie

27, Finance Manager Lauren has “played a little with friends’ bikes, but nothing serious” and bought herself a beautiful classic, a Honda Benly CB200. “I can’t wait – that is going to be my life! I won’t be commuting to work as I live so close, so this is going to be for adventuring, journeys away, classic meets – all of it! My mum is weary about me riding, of course – it’s her job – but everyone else is excited. I have friends with bikes and my best friend builds custom bikes – he’s my main inspiration.”
