Head to head: Fast tourers

BMW’S K1300GT won RIDE’S touring tests in 2009 and ’10, beating the 1400GTR both times. Today its problem isn’t the bike but the lack of them. It was made for just two years, replaced by the six-cylinder K1600GT in 2011. That leaves only 500 K1300GTS on UK roads; there are more than twice as many 1400GTRS. So it’s easier to buy a Kawasaki, but worth the time to find a BMW – especially the fully-equipped SE model.
